The Mice

Back to Library

The Mice card usually shows three or more small mice clustered together, busy gnawing, stealing, eating, or working relentlessly. They are fast, clever, and highly organized. They chew through almost anything, damage structures, multiply quickly, and spread decay and contamination. Mice represent stress and anxiety that slowly and persistently gnaw at your core.

This is the card of erosion and gradual decline. Mice bring worry, apprehension, and mental strain. Sometimes the card points to illness or simple exhaustion. Other times it signals a lost object or something quietly disappearing. Small, unresolved problems can grow into major complications if ignored. Mice can also point to hoarding, saving, or living in survival mode.

Because mice work in groups, this card can sometimes refer to teamwork, factory labor, or industrial workers performing repetitive, monotonous tasks. Overall, Mice is a negative card, representing the inner restlessness, agitation, and nervous tension that never quite leaves.

🐁Personal stories with the Mice

My sister’s best friend Leeloo was planning a Paris-themed surprise party. I drew: Stars, Scythe, Bouquet, Mice, Sun, Mountain, Key. Mice in the center emphasized stress, anxiety, and unexpected issues that would need quick attention.

Stars with Scythe pointed to a sudden disruption. Bouquet with Mice suggested mounting stress around decorations. Sun trapped between Mice and Mountain showed success delayed by stress and obstacles. However, the Key confirmed eventual success.

A storm hit, causing widespread power outages. Decorations were damaged by heat, and the party was postponed. Leeloo sent a photo of a ruined Moulin Rouge model - a perfect manifestation of Mice. On the second attempt, the party went beautifully.

🏚️The Mice in the Grand Tableau

Traditionally, Mice near the significator warns of theft or loss. The closer they are, the greater the chance of loss. If close and surrounded by positive cards, the item will likely be recovered. If far away, recovery is unlikely.

Mice acts as an adjective, modifying nearby cards. Surrounded by negative cards, its impact becomes severe and draining. With positive cards, it softens and allows hope to return.

When Mice appears near the House, it warns of structural damage, hidden decay, or ongoing household stress. It reflects everyday stress and anxiety that persists if ignored.

🔗Key combinations and examples

  • Mice with Stars: Anxiety about public exposure, internet stress, or items being found
  • Mice with Bear: Money draining away, constant small expenses, financial anxiety
  • Mice with Fox: Low paying jobs, stressful factory work, employment anxiety
  • Ring with Mice: Lost rings, broken contracts, eroding marriages
  • Mice with Ring: Recurring worry, exhaustion cycles, or gradual resolution

Small, unresolved problems can grow into major complications if ignored.
